Hello Second Grade Families!
Today I will be sharing what your students went over in class today about Digital Citizenship. "In a world dominated by virtual interactions, being a responsible digital citizen has never been more crucial. Students today grow up with social media, online classrooms, and digital communication tools that make the internet an extension of their everyday lives. However, along with the privileges of constant connectivity come risks that can affect users’ privacy, safety, and well-being. Understanding digital citizenship and building strong digital literacy skills, therefore, provides a framework for students to use technology ethically and securely." (Learning.com LcomTeam, 2025) We live in a technology driven world, and school is part of that. Students have received their district issued iPad. Now, while the district has installed safeguards to protect your students from accessing inappropriate sites using their iPad, it is still extremely important for them to learn and understand how to keep themselves safe while using the internet. I've included a link to a website to help you and your student learn more about internet safety and responsibility.
Digital Citizenship and Safety
Please take a look at this website with your students and help the understand the importance of their digital footprint and how the internet can be a dangerous place if not used correctly. Thank you for helping me keep your students safe.
